Our artisans carefully obtain their wood from reforestation projects and also make use of reclaimed wood to craft a variety of products. The soul of our work lies in the material itself. Our artisans skillfully transform repurposed wood, gathered under the strict oversight of the Forestry Commission of Ghana, into high-quality masterpieces. The rich history of each reclaimed piece is preserved and enhanced through meticulous craftsmanship and a strong quality control process. The result is a premium-quality product that marries exceptional traditional techniques with a story of ethical, sustainable sourcing.

This stool’s design features a structure gracefully elevated on a stack of books, a powerful representation of wisdom as the foundation of growth. Inspired by the Adinkra symbol “Nea Onnim No Sua A, Ohu,” meaning “He who cultivates the habit of learning, becomes an expert" this piece celebrates the lifelong pursuit of knowledge and the humility that accompanies it. The books carved into the base embody the idea that true strength and stability arise from understanding, while the structure above symbolizes enlightenment built upon education and shared wisdom. Echoing the Akan proverb “Nimdee nni akyire” which means“Knowledge has no end”.

Cleaning

• Dust regularly using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp (not wet) microfiber cloth.
• Avoid harsh chemicals, detergents, or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the wood’s natural finish.

Conditioning

• Nourish the wood with a natural furniture wax, beeswax polish, or mineral oil.
• Apply a thin layer with a soft cloth, let it absorb for a few minutes, and then buff gently to restore luster.
• This helps prevent drying, cracking, and warping.

Placement

• Keep the stool away from direct sunlight, radiators, or heat vents, as excessive heat can cause the wood to dry out or fade.
• Avoid placing it in damp or humid areas, which can lead to swelling or mold growth.
• Use felt pads under the legs if placing on delicate flooring.

Use

• Your stool is sturdy but handcrafted — use it for sitting or display, not as a step stool or to support heavy loads.
• Minor scratches or marks can be gently buffed out with fine-grain sandpaper, followed by reapplying wood oil or wax.

Long-Term Care

• Over time, your stool may develop a rich patina — this is a natural part of its beauty and heritage.
• With regular care and gentle handling, it will continue to age gracefully and tell its story for years to come.
